Hello world my name is Diana and I’m from Guyana which is a little English-speaking country nestled on the eastern coast of South America.
My current mission is to photograph and document through this blog all the birds in my country and hopefully some from other parts of the world. According to my field guide that happens to currently be 814 species so Holy cow that’s a LOT of birds!
I’m new to both birding and photography but I’ve been obsessed with both from a childhood spent pouring over National Geographic magazines. Comments, critiques and suggestions are all welcome and I look forward to interacting with some interesting people.

Nice blog you have here. I wish you luck in your quest of photographing all the birds of your country. Well I am from India and log almost 1400 + varieties of birds. I too am busy clicking them. My problem is that the country is too big and have to travel a lot for birding. All the same the Twitch is on.

I have a bird table …Enlighten me further, that would be very good. I’d like some of those colourful Guyanan birds in my garden!

Well you can keep it filled with seeds and fruits and even some suet. Maybe I’ll do a post on attracting birds to your yard. My yard has a very large garden with several fruit and nut trees and an abandoned lot next door with a great variety of wild berry bushes – that attracts them to mine

The bird list is more or less the same as on my blog, The Joy of Birdwatching! I counted on world shorebird day when the tide was out so a lot of birds were not on the pond in such huge numbers. I counted 600 lapwings once and someone else told me there had been 100 cormorants. Incidently I was in a charity bookshop yesterday and got Roger Tory Petersons’
Field Guide to the Birds – Eastern Land and Water Birds for £1.50! Now I’ve no excuse for not knowing American birds. Some of which are stunningly beautiful!
