The Parika – Supenaam Ferry Route
I spent the week doing field work for thesis project so I thought I would share some quick photographs. The Parika – Supenaam Ferry is an integral transportation link connecting the two banks of the Essequibo River linking Parika on the East Bank to Supenaam on the West Bank. This transportation network is maintained by The Government’s Transport and Harbours Department which provides scheduled ferry services through two ferries – The Kanawan and Sabanto ply the Parika – Supenaam route and which departs each stelling three times daily.
Transportation is also supplemented by small privately owned river crafts or water taxis which are locally known as speedboats.
I also recorded a short video of the M.V Kanawan.
